Namaste!!Sasriakal!!Wadakkum!!Salam!!. 19th November, this was the day that we all had been preparing for weeks and waiting for it.We woke up earlier then directly headed to Waseda University. On our way to the university, we proceeded for Brunch to an Indian restaurant "Curry and Naan" that gave us the taste of our delicious Indian food.

After this we moved to the venue for the preparations for Indian day. This was the day we all had been waiting for since long so that we could put forth our rich and pure Indian culture to the Japanese people. We headed to the Okuma Garden and started decorating the hall. We put up our tricolor Indian Flag all over the flag. we also arranged all the food stuffs that we had brought all the way from India like Chakli, Bhakarwadi, Dosh , bebinca and some farsans. We also had a set up of different Indian spices on display so that the Japanese people could view them.

It was around 4.30 pm, the Waseda students and teachers began entering the venue for our cultural night. We all were nervous but excited too. The function started by a short speech welcoming our guests by our teacher in charge Sachin Moraes. and followed by a presentation on Goa and chowgule college. Aditi and Aishwarya were the hosts for today's eve. The Function began by a Fashion show depicting different states of India where all of them were dressed in different attires. After our Fashion show , we had a great glance of Indo contemporary and bharatnatyam performance by Aditi & Alysia. It was a nice and sweet performance, People loved it. Then we had an Aarti recital by Sankalp which created a positive Atmosphere. Soon after this we began our Goan dance called Dhekni by Sankalp, Aishwarya , Chetna , Joanna , Kimberly. In between, we had few spot quiz questions, we all were very shocked to see that Japanese people know alot about our indian culture After this we were all set to take the japanese people to the world of Bollywood by dhinchak performance by Shayzad and Alysia. The crowd enjoyed the performance and they gave us a big round of applause. Soon we moved to our next performance Lavni which was performed by our student Sushmita. It  was an energetic Performance that gave us the maharashtra tadka.

We then headed towards the Mando dance ( Shayzad Alysia Aditi Sushmita Sankalp Chetna Vanessa Joanna Aishwarya Kimberly)  followed by Sachin sir. We were moving towards the last part of our function , we gave a dhamakedar bollywood performance Rendered to our lord ganesha. Visit to Tohuku

Today is the 8th day of our Tokyo programme. We went to a visit to tohuku today. It was a land which got devasted due to the earthquake and tsunami and thousands of people died in the same. We were lucky to attend the oysters festival which happened today and volunteered for such a international social work. We set off for our journey to tohuku last night at 10.50PM. Before that we the students of chowgule college were divided into 5 groups in which we had to work along with the students of Waseda University. We reached the place at 5 in the morning where we collected our breakfast. From 7 to 7.20AM we had the karakuwa  tour in kesennuma city- isaribi park. It was a heavenly beautiful place with scenic beauty covered in water and trees.

We arrived at the karakuwa elementary school for the volunteering activity and preparation of the festival at  7.30AM. We were given instructions on what ought to be done incase of tsunami. From 8 to 2 we all were busy into the work assigned to us according to our groups.

Group 1: supporting event head quarters
Group 2: grilling and serving oyesters
Group 3: coming and serving swordfish curry and fish bony soup
Group 4: spring and managing performance stage and placing microphone
Group 5: patrolling festival site,  reporting accidents to event head quarters and keeping who station.

The most interesting experience was to taste the half raw grilled oysters. The place was covered with people and the lines for food stalls. Everyone seemed so happy. There were several stage performances which many people performed and entertained the locals. Towards the end by 2PM all the cleaning up work and replacing desks and chairs was done. By 2.30PM we departed from the place back to idabashi and the bus dropped is right outside our youth hostel by 10.30PM.

Today we all had our breakfast at the  Indian restaurant in Waseda , where we filled ourselves with butter chicken and naan. After this we boarded a Waseda University bus which took us to the Waseda University of Science  and Technology.  There, some of the students and faculty showed us around the campus for an hour.
We then came back to Waseda and had a break for one hour, in which we all rested and refreshed ourselves for our next session which was a lecture on the Reconstruction Project for the Great East Japan Earthquake b WAVOC / Waseda University. the lecture was given to us by Hiroyuki Yamaguchi, manager at the center for international division, Waseda University. He spoke to us about the 3.11 earthquake and tsunami that damaged Japan on 11th march 2011 and what impact it  had on the people. He also told us about the effect that the radioactive contamination had on on the people and how this caused a divide between the people. The was very interesting and touched all our hearts.
Our day ended with the celebration of Kimberly's birthday party. We all had lots of fun. we cut a cake and took lots of pictures.
