Yipieeee.... finally the long awaited day arrived...!!
The long awaited day for leaving to Japan finally arrived. All the Japan exchange programme students were called to college at 5 am and we left for the airport at 5.15am. We were all so excited for the day to come but were a little sad about being away from home for 2 weeks.. We bid farewell to our parents and headed to the airport wherein we checked in our luggage and completed all the other formalities. Our journey began with the flight to Bombay and after 5 hours wait at Bombay we proceeded to board our next flight to Kuala lampur. On arriving there we were all mesmerised by the duty free and other things that we did not even realise how 4 hours passed by. We finally boarded our flight to Narita, all of us were so eager and patiently waiting to arrive at Japan. The flight to Japan was 9 hours but we all managed to sleep peacefully till 5 a.m.
We arrived at Narita at around 7.35 a.m. After going through the long process of immigration, we were welcomed by Mr. Egashira. The weather was pleasant.
Arrival at Narita airport, Tokyo
We left our luggage at Tokyo Central Youth Hostel in Iidabashi and after freshing up we immediately proceeded to Waseda University. As we reached there we were given a warm welcome by The Japanese professors. It was a
wonderful experience to meet everyone and have such a pleasant welcome after our long and tiring journey. Later on we had an orientation programme in which we were told in short about our schedule in Japan and were gifted chopsticks as a welcome gift. We bonded over an inaugural lunch and enjoyed a meal of Soup and Chicken Steak .
yummy!! chicken stack.
Later on Miss. Sena a student of law from Waseda University showed us around the campus. We visited the auditorium, Museum, Cafeteria, campus and finally proceeded towards the hostel followed by checkin and somehow managing to carry our heavy luggage up by passing them from one person :D ;) to the other to the floor above since there was no elevator till up there. :D :D After all the excitement and thrill during the day we finally freshened up and went to McDonalds for dinner.
fun at McDonalds.. :)
Each moment till date has been a great learning experience . Inspite of all the instructions being in Japanese we succeeded in learning how to purchase our tickets to the university and back as well as certain rules and regulations follwed by the Japanese people We also noticed that the Japanese are very punctual, hardworking and helpful. Inspite of being miles away from home we still managed well and are looking forward to the rest of our stay in japan.
